RAINS × Volcom

February 09, 2016

RAINS and Volcom has decided to partner up and design a capsule collection comprised of a raincoat and a hat that represents both Volcom’s skate heritage and RAINS' waterproof functionality. Naturally, both brands agreed upon involving Rune Glifberg, Danish professional skater and long time Volcom team rider to complete the story. This resulted in a photo and video campaign shot in Copenhagen, Denmark showcasing the product and Rune in their natural surroundings.

Widely recognized as one of the most stylish and advanced skaters in the world, Rune Glifberg started skating back in 1986 at the age of 11 in his hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1992 he turned pro and in 1996 he stated his place in the pro-ranks by winning one of the biggest contests in skateboarding; the Slam City Jam. Over the years, he was one of just three athletes to compete at every X Games summer event and has twelve total X Games medals. Rune’s talents have been furthered in recent years with his world class skate park designs. His design for the massive indoor/outdoor hybrid StreetDome in Haderslev, Denmark is one of five qualified entries for ‘‘Sport Architecture Building Of The Year’’ on - the world’s most trafficked architecture website. Today Rune still is on top of his professional game, skating in contests while maintaining multiple businesses.

The RAINS x Volcom collaboration consists of two strong styles establishing a link between skate trends and fashion. Each piece is comprised of the RAINS lightweight waterproof fabric, with an elegant matt surface making it comfortable and practical to wear. The jacket is constructed using a classic coach design while adding a removable hood to increase water protection. The fishing hat includes a snapable brim and adjustable chin strap.
